Web Based Proxy Server – Why You Shouldn’t Use Web Based Proxies

September 17th, 2009

Finding a web based proxy server online is simple. Just search for the phrase and within seconds you’ll find a site offering a web based proxy. The problem? They are limited in what they can do, they may even reveal your IP online and they are usually as slow as if not slower than dial up modems.

Web based proxies might be free, but the disadvantages of them far outweigh this single benefit. The first problem with web based proxies is that the software used to create them is limited in what content you can view online. What does this mean? Many features such as javascript and cookies are disabled. Some websites require that you have these enabled in order to view the content they have online. With these simple features disabled, you are limited in what websites you can even browse while using a web based proxy.

Beyond being limited in what they can do, web based proxies aren’t secure. While they might allow you to change your IP or hide your identity online, they can be detected as proxies. This means that the IP you use while browsing with a web based proxy is shown as a proxy IP. Web masters typically ban and block IPs that are detected as coming from proxy servers. Again, this leads to web proxies typically being unable to access many websites as their IPs are banned as soon as the proxy flag comes up.

A web based proxy server is free but you will quickly find that being free is far outweighed by how limited and restricted they are. A better solution is to use an elite proxy server which offers 100% anonymity and super fast speeds while surfing the internet.

Anonymous Web Proxies – Why Anonymous Web Proxies Are Bad

August 18th, 2009

Anonymous web proxies may sound great, who doesn’t want to be able to be anonymous online? There is a problem though. Web proxies usually aren’t anonymous and they are also limited in just what they can allow you to do online. Web proxies are the most basic form of a proxy server and the worst choice if you want to be anonymous online.

The biggest problem with web based proxies is that they are limited in the kind of websites you can surf and content you can see. Many web proxies have video, audio, cookies, javascript and much more disabled. What does this mean for you? It means that many video and social networking sites just won’t work. Since they aren’t able to display their content, the web pages just don’t load.

The second biggest problem with web proxies is their so called anonymity. To be truly anonymous online, you must look and appear like everyone else. This isn’t the case with a web proxy. The IPs you get from a web proxy are called proxified IPs. This means that if you examine the IP, and any website you access has the ability to do this, you will see that the IP isn’t normal and actually comes from a proxy server. Web masters don’t like giving access to people who use proxies to access their websites.

Anonymous web proxies sound good in theory, but they are limited in the content or websites you can surf and how anonymous they are. If you really want to be anonymous online, an elite proxy is your only solution.
