IP Address Spoofing – Don’t IP Spoof Use A Proxy To Change Your IP

October 28th, 2009

IP address spoofing is a trick used by many to make their original IP look different than it really is. There are a number of reasons someone might do this, but one of these is that they wish to change their IP so that if anyone looks at their IP, they won’t see their real IP.

The basic format for sending data over the internet is called Internet Protocol, or IP. Each IP header packet contains information, one of which is information about the source of the data it was sent from. When you IP spoof, you change this source information so it looks like the request for data came from a different computer than it was really sent from.

The problem with IP spoofing is that it is much harder to do in practice than many people may think. If you want to spoof your address to remain anonymous online, a much easier solution is to change your IP with a proxy server. If you are surfing the net with a proxy server, your IP used is that of the proxy server and not your home computer. You have changed your IP to something different and made yourself anonymous online.

IP address spoofing is basically about making an IP look different than it really is. A much easier solution for people wanting to spoof an IP address to be anonymous online is to simply use a proxy server. Proxies allow you to change your IP and hide your real IP.
